WW Count

Trev’s Wood White Count on 25th May showing that numbers are still rising to 32

Wednesday 27th May 2019

Weather poor but several Wood Whites still active.  Most of the Bugle had gone over so the preferred nectar plant was Bush Vetch and Ragged Robin.  A red dot female and an original male were displaying but the female was unresponsive.  I guess that the female was already mated.  (Females are only mated once).

01/06/2019 Cyril’s Transect showed Wood Whites at 15 the highest Transect Count at the same time Trevor counted 26 after a complete day search.

03/06/2019 Wood Whites still flying although weather poor Nectaring on Ragged Robin, Bush Vetch and Bramble now it is out. No sign of RED spots.

04/06/2019 An attempt at the Transects – But it rained despite this still counted 8 Wood Whites. Either nectaring or roosting.

Transect Walked 06/06/2019 in perfect conditions 22 Wood Whites were found throughout to northern part of the wood. The ex-conifer plots were no surveyed.
