  • National Status: Butterfly of south and east England, range expanding. National trend 10 years -45%; since 1976 -59%.
  • West Midlands Status:  Stronghold Worcestershire with scattered colonies elsewhere. Range expanding. Population trend 10 years – decreasing.
  • Habitat: Wide woodland rides with dappled sunlight.
  • Flight Period: Typically single-brooded on the wing mid-June to mid-August.
  • Wingspan Male 56–64 mm; female 58–66 mm.
